Spin and win for Miller
April 4, 2023 – It was the opening Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2023 Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Pro Tour and Chad Dokken Racing driver Steven Miller continued his winning ways. Fresh off of his championship-winning performance at the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour, Miller earned a pair of KA100 Junior victories at Orlando Kart Center this past weekend to leave the first SKUSA Pro Tour event weekend of 2023 as the point leader.
“Great weekend for me but I owe a lot of the credit to Chad Dokken, Kart Republic, and their incredible program,” expressed Steven Miller. “I have won a lot of races on the Kart Republic chassis, and I have no plans on slowing down.”
After a second-place qualifying effort on Saturday, Miller earned the prefinal win and accompanying pole position for the main event later that day. Leading early and scoring the fastest lap of the race, Miller went on to take the victory, but not before some drama ensued.
Miller added, “I ran over some dirt on the track from a previous driver incident in the braking zone and spun. I thought my race was over, but I never gave up. I put my head down, earned the fastest race lap, and was able to climb my way to the top step of the podium for the win. After the race, I was told it is very rare to spin and still win a Pro National event. I am proud of this achievement.”
Returning to the track on Sunday and looking to repeat his performance, minus the spin, Miller converted his outside front row qualifying effort to a prefinal win, and eventual victory in the main event by a dominating 3.5 seconds.
Leaving the SKUSA Pro Tour as the KA100 Junior point leader, SunPrint sponsored driver Steven Miller will now shift his focus to Texas and the second round of the United States Pro Kart Series. Taking place over the April 27-30 weekend at the Speedsportz Racing Park, Miller will look to continue his winning ways in New Caney, Texas.
